Review: Etude House Silk Scarf Hair Treatment

5:41 PM

Today's review is gonna be about a hair product! I'll be sharing my opinion about the Hair Treatement from Etude House's Silk Scarf line ^_^

Product description and claims:
Specially formulated with oil complex and floral scent, this highly concentrated treatment restores and reinforces brittle and damaged hair,

preventing future breakage and leaving your hair extraordinarily strong, sift, silky, and manageable.

Volume: 200ml

There are instruction in Korean, and below in English.

Instructions:
Use once or twice a week. Massage into hair and comb through evenly with fingers. Let treatment work for 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

I personally tend to use it more than twice a week, I usually use it whenever I was my hair, which is about 3/4 times a week (I know, i'm disgusting but its actually the healthiest for your hair.)
I apply some to the ends and work my way up with a comb, and leave it "marinating" (yes, i'm hungry) for 5-7 minutes.

Ingredients:
WATER, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, STEARYL ALCOHOL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, DIMETHICONE, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, BEHENTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, ADANSONIA DIGITATA FRUIT EXTRACT, CAMELLIA JAPONICA SEED OIL, MACADAMIA INTEGRIFOLIA SEED OIL, ARGANIA SPINOSA KERNEL OIL, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL, BIS-HYDROXY/METHOXY AMODIMETHICONE, STEARTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, QUATERNIUM-80, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, METHYLCHLOROISOTHIAZOLINONE, METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE, PHENOXYETHANOL, FRAGRANCE(PARFUM), RED 33 (CI 17200), BLUE 1 (CI 42090), ORANGE 4 (CI 15510)

Caution:
1. For external use only.
2. Avoid contact with eyes.
3. Keep out of reach of children.
4. Discontinue use if signs of irritation and/or rash appear.

Consistency:

Rather than being creamy, I believe it is more of a jelly consistency. It's very lightweight, and slides very easily on the hand (as shows below)

Price:
I believe it is around $10/ 8€ depending on where you buy it. In the Etude House site, it's $7 (without counting with shipping price)

My Opinion:
First of all, the packaging is DAMN CUTE (as expected from Etude) and the product smells amazing. It's kind of strong at first, but it fades very quickly; I would describe it as a floral strawberry (?) scent, something like that.

My hair is pretty healthy at the moment, so I just use it to maintain it as it is. I think it works, my hair feels softer and smoother, however I haven't noticed if it has prevented my roots from splitting.

Pros:
-Smells great
-Works (hair feels softer, looks healthier)
-A little goes a pretty long way

Cons:
-Smell fades away, so my hair doesn't smell like flowers and strawberries when I rinse the product off T_T
-Since the consistency is very light, it is very likely for too much product to come out when you squeeze the tube (so be careful!).
-Might prevent breakage, but not very noticeable

Conclusion:
My expectations weren't great for this one, but it somehow surprised me. It did leave my hair softer and silkier, I can see this working great on people who have healthy hair and want to keep it healthy. However, it doesn't do any magic, my ends are still splitting when their time comes T_T It's ok though, I don't believe there is a product that will leave your hair completely unbreakable (IF THERE IS PLEASE LET ME KNOW)

6/10

  7. I tried the serum and I guess it kinda have the same result like the hair treatment. I mean, yeah your hair became super soft and silky (literally "Silk Scarf" lol) but it doesn't give significant treatments for hair breakage or damaged.

Anyway I really love your blog! Just followed you on GFC ^^

  8. Very nice and honest review of Silk Scarfe. My husband is facing hair fall. Though it works for women but I think for men, the best product you have is toppik hair building fibers as he told me that couple of his friends are using it.
